What Is Sublimation Ink?
A sublimation ink is the type of ink which converts solid to gas without having to go through a liquid form. Sublimation ink is a water-proof and high quality ink which can not be smudged because of high temperature. It is defined based on the process of dye sublimation printing, the process turns ink into a gas directly with the use of heat and pressure.
Sublimation Printing Process
Sublimation printing process involves the transfer of designs through dye sublimation inks using heat onto materials such as card, t-shirts, mugs, etc. The design or artwork is transferred in a gas state using heat press with high temperature.
The process involves first printing any design on special paper before transferring onto items like mugs, t-shirts, mouse pad, etc.
Sublimation Printer vs Inkjet Printer
A sublimation printer makes use of heat in transferring ink from the ribbon to things like t-shirts, paper, mugs, etc., while inkjet printers direct drops of ink onto a paper directly in microscopic form.
Sublimation printers use ink vapors to permeate materials, while inkjet printers directly print ink on paper.
Inkjet printers add printing layers on a paper, but sublimation printers makes the ink to become a part of the fabric or item printed on.
